CORONAVIRUS – URGENT UPDATE

URGENT UPDATE FOR PATIENTS

GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES

Patients in the following groups are advised to remain at home and avoid contact  with anyone showing  symptoms.

  • Over 70’s
  • Pregnant Women
  • People with Long Term Chronic Disease/conditions

People showing any signs of the Coronavirus, including high fever or a new on going cough  need to self isolate for:

  • 7 days if you live alone
  • 14 days if you or any member of your household have symptoms (everyone in the household must self isolate for 14 days)

In line with Government Guidelines we are changing how we manage our patients at this present time. In order to minimise the risk of spreading Coronavirus to vulnerable patients we are trying to manage as many patients as possible by telephone triage. Some non-essential appointments may need to be cancelled for the time being. We are asking patients to no longer walk into surgery to book appointments or obtain results. Patients are asked to telephone for appointments which will then initially be added to Clinician triage lists for a telephone consultation, who will hopefully be able to deal with your problems over the phone. If the clinician deems it necessary to examine a patient and they do not have symptoms you will be given an appointment to attend the surgery. Appointments for Annual reviews which do not need an examination will also still be carried out over the telephone by one of our nurses. People needing blood tests should ring and book an appointment. Please DO NOT visit the surgery for any reason if you have flu like symptoms, high fever or on going new cough. Please follow government advice and self isolate for 7 days if you can control your symptoms. This is a rapidly changing and challenging time for the NHS and all its staff so we ask for your patience and understanding at this time. Thank you
